The babies this week are the size of a pineapple.
This is what babycenter.com has to say....
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.
At our ultrasound, day before last, the babies were doing great! We were able to watch Macy with the hiccups. So cute. The sonographer also said that Macy has lots of hair! She said MJ had some too but not as much as Macy. Can't wait to see! We were 33w1d and....
Macy weighed 4lbs 13oz, measuring 33w4d, heart rate of 132.
MJ weighed 4lbs 15 oz, measuring 34w4d, heart rate of 136.
I can't believe they are already so BIG!
We also got some other news. Macy is now completely head-down... which is great. However, MJ has moved from transverse to complete breech! So, our chances of having a c-section are now quite high. Unless and miracle happens between now and delivery and MJ turns head-down, we will be having a c-section for sure.
I got so much information that day that my head was swirling all day and I couldn't process anything clearly. One of the reasons I didn't get a chance to blog until today.
But.... we were able to get a great picture of Macy's face. MJ was looking down so we were only able to get a picture of his fist.....

On another note... I went in 3 days ago to the physical medicine doctor again. My carpal tunnel has gotten extremely difficult to cope with. I have lots of pain all day. It hurts to do every.little.thing: write, type, squeeze the shampoo bottle, sleep, cut my food, feed myself, turn a doorknob, drive, brush my teeth, pull my socks on, etc. It got to the point that I just couldn't function, so I gave in and went back to the doctor. We decided that we would try the injections. Little did I know that the injections went directly into the inside of my wrists. Not a fun procedure, but not horrible. After about 24 hours I could already tell a difference. And after 48 hours I am feeling so much better! But the carpal tunnel is another reason it has taken me awhile to get this blog post written.
Anyway, I am still just gestating away. My fundal height, at 33 weeks, is 40 cm (which is the size of a 40 week belly with a singleton pregnancy!), and I have gained a total of 27 lbs. Blood pressure and everything else is looking perfect. My OB will not schedule anything for before 38 weeks. So, as of now, we are on the calendar for a scheduled section on Feb 29. I will be 38w1d. I am not entirely convinced that I will make it that far, so we will see. I am still going in for weekly NSTs and maybe those will give us some indication of how long I will last.
Beware of the bare belly photo you're about to see! These are from the morning of my sono & check-up, at 33w1d...
