This week the babies each weigh as much as a cantaloupe (actually we know that Macy and MJ weigh a little more):
This is what babycenter.com has to say...
Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.
We have finally made it to 34 weeks! Starting at about 32 wks, things started getting really difficult. I try not to complain too much, but this is HARD! Thankfully the injections for my carpal tunnel worked wonders and my hands are so much better! I don't even have to wear my wrist braces at all at this point. Phew.
Everything else is going great, medically. BP is perfect, babies are perfect, weight gain is good, etc. However, the swelling is becoming very bad. My feet are so swollen that I can no longer wear my shoes- I have to wear flip flops (thank goodness it's warm here!). Also, they are so swollen that the tops of my feet hurt with every step I take. But, I will take it as long as I need to as long as healthy babies are born at the end of this.
As it stands, my OB will not schedule anything for before 38 weeks (with twins) if there is no medical reason to do so. Because everything is going so well at this point, I still am scheduled for a c-section at 38w1d on Feb 29 (yes, Leap Day!). I really, really don't think I will make it that far, but would really love to make it to at least 36 weeks. We shall see. At today's NST the babies looked great again. I asked to see the doctor while I was there just to make sure she wasn't concerned about the swelling.... which she wasn't. She said everything looks great and just to rest and keep my feet up as much as possible. While I was in there I asked her if she could check me for dilation. I have a few contractions on and off all day, but they become much more frequent at night. Even though they aren't close enough together or regular enough to warrant a trip to the hospital, I still wanted to be checked. Sure enough, I have dilated to 1 cm. Of course, that means a whole lot of nuthin' at this point, but at least we know that these babies will be making their appearances soon! I have gained 3 more pounds, for a total of 30.

Here is this week's belly picture:
I can't believe there are two 5 lb babies in there! :) Until next time!
