This is what babycenter.com has to say this week:
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.
Ok....these babies are SUPER active! I love it. It is just more confirmation each day that these 2 miracles are growing and thriving.
I had my first NST (non-stress test) last week. It was perfect; babies looked great. Basically, the test is pretty simple. I sit in a recliner and have 3 belts placed around my stomach- one belt for each baby and one belt to measure any contractions that I might be experiencing. I am then handed a little button. I am to press the button each time I feel any movement from the babies. Hmmm..... can I just tell you how many times I had to press that button! Lordy! After 45 minutes (it was supposed to be 10-20 minutes, but I think the nurse forgot about me) the doctor checks the printout that shows the babies' heart rates throughout the test. She said that the babies looked beautiful and I registered NO contractions, so I was sent on my way. Great news! I have another NST tomorrow and once a week, every week, until the delivery.
I am doing well. Definitely getting harder and harder to move around, but still doing great. My carpal tunnel is still giving me trouble. The physical medicine doctor gave me different wrist braces to try before we try injections. The braces are definitely helping at night, a lot, but, during the day I am still having a lot of pain and discomfort. I will bring it up to my OB again at my next appointment. I have gained 1 lb this week, for a total of 22 pounds. Things are going great!
Since I wrote 2 blog posts today, be sure to scroll down to the post below and read it. There's a surprise! :)
Until next time....
