A full term singleton pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks, however, we know that because of the twins that it is likely that the birth will come a few weeks early. My OB said she loves to see twin pregnancies make it to at least 35 weeks. I have set my personal goal at 36 weeks. And my OB will not let me go past my 38th week. So, we know that (hopefully) these will be February babies. I will be exactly 36 weeks on February 14.
So what are Macy Jane and MJ up to this week? They are approximately the size of a large heirloom tomato:
Here is what babycenter.com has to say...
Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.
As far as how I am doing....
I am actually feeling much better lately. Of course, the exhaustion is still a big part of my day. I still usually take my daily 3-hour nap. Thanks to Misty and the wonderful, life-saving pregnancy pillow she brought to me last week, I am sleeping much better at night too. My weight is up a total of 5 pounds and the headaches are slowing down again- yay! My appointments from here on out will now include a detailed growth ultrasound to keep track of the babies' weight and size. Next appointment is scheduled for November 7th- 22 weeks.
Until next week.....
